Photography Contest «Physics Behind The Scene 2008» was held on January 11, 2008 at Kharkiv National University. The event was organized by V. Karazin Kharkov National University (KNU) OSA Student Chapter in order to encourage high school students to make photos of optical phenomena in nature and human life and to understand the phycics underlying the captured phenomenon.
The contestant had to submit either color photograph demonstrating an optical phenomenon, explain what is shown at the photo, explain the physics of the phenomenon and identify when and where the photo was taken.

Judging: A panel of expert judges drawn from the worlds of science and photography will select the winning entries. The selection criteria and photography will select the winning entries. The selection criteria include: originality, creativity, demonstrable thought behind photographic content and composition.

Prizes: The winner got a HP photo printer and the winner's adviser (e.g. physics teacher or supervisor) got an OSA Optics Discovery Kit. 2nd place winner got a color printer with ability to print photos. 3rd place winners (3 prizes for the 3rd place) got a multimedia sets - optical mouse and wireless keyboard. All the winners got a diploma from Kharkiv National University.
